Cutimed Sorbact Wound Contact Layer
Cutimed® Sorbact® - the newest innovative approach in antimicrobial wound care therapy from BSN Medical, uses a unique antimicrobial concept that works without a chemically active agent
Cutimed® Sorbact® by BSN Medical is one of the newest and most innovative approaches to antimicrobial wound care therapy. Using a unique antimicrobial concept that works without a chemically active agent, Cutimed® Sorbact’s® effectiveness is based on the powerful physical principle of hydrophobic interaction to cleanse colonized, contaminated and infected wounds.
The Cutimed® Sorbact® wound contact layer is applied onto the wound to provide a non-adherent layer between the wound and the secondary absorbent dressing. The layer’s special coating creates a strong water-repellent property which helps to inactivate and physically bind wound bacteria to the dressing itself. With each dressing change the bound bacteria are removed and expelled from the wound, eliminating one of the principle barriers to wound healing. Indications for use include:
- All types of contaminated, colonized or infected exudating wounds, such as venous leg, arterial, diabetic and pressure ulcers
- Shallow wounds and under compression
Cutimed® Sorbact® is effective against all wound pathogens including MRSA and VRE, and may be combined with secondary dressings as transparent film or ABD pads for additional exudate absorption. Included as a component in the Comprifore multi-layer compression bandaging system, Cutimed® Sorbact® helps to create the optimal healing conditions for venous leg ulcers.
